SCAPA’s Barrette is Kentucky’s French Teacher of the Year

SCAPA’s Barrette is Kentucky’s French Teacher of the Year

The Kentucky World Language Association (KWLA) has saluted Alice Barrette of SCAPA at Bluegrass as the state’s French Teacher of the Year. KWLA recognized this year’s award winners at its statewide conference in mid-September.

“I love helping students discover what they enjoy about French language and culture. It's very rewarding when students find that spark that captures their imagination,” said Barrette, who is in her fourth year at SCAPA. “I also enjoy integrating the arts into our lessons.”

A National Board Certified educator who has taught in Fayette County Public Schools for 16 years, Barrette previously served at Tates Creek High. She also taught for three years at East Jessamine High School.

She is a native of Owensboro and a graduate of Transylvania University with a bachelor’s degree in French. She earned a master’s in French and a master's in Teaching World Languages from the University of Kentucky.
