Incoming 6th - 8th Grade Summer Math Work - Recommended

Math Summer Recommendation - 2023-2024 - Rising 6th, 7th, or 8th Grade Students

Students will be placed in a summer Canvas course so they can have access to the instructions for the assignments, a pacing guide, and teacher communication. 

6th Grade

7th Grade

Accelerated 8th	90% Mastery in Pre-Algebra
Algebra I	90% Mastery on 8th Grade Math

 

 

8th Grade

Algebra I	90% Mastery on 8th Grade Math
Geometry	90% Mastery in the Following Topics: -Solving Equations -Systems of Equations -Exponent Rules -Pythagorean Theorem -Simplifying Radical Expressions -Factoring Polynomials -Solving Quadratics

 

Students will be assessed over these recommended skills on/around September 1st.

The assignment will be the student’s first summative score. 

Khan Academy is recommended because it is free, thorough, and overall a good tool to use. If you would prefer to work with another tool, whether online or a book/text, that is awesome as well. But please make sure to set aside time every week or two for some math work, if not multiple times a week.

***Students skipping a grade are expected to cover the material they are missing on their own. There will be some review and overlap. Not everything will be covered explicitly since the student is skipping a grade, and needs to put in the work to ensure they are prepared for the class they are heading into.***
